This is fic-writing community devoted to the love of all things Harry Potter.

Here are the basics:

1. Challenges will be posted once a week on Sunday at noon.
2. Challenges will close the following Sunday at noon.
3. Special challenges will be posted twice per month for a period of 48 hours from the original posting time.
4. Points will be awarded to fics through the unscreened comments of other users viewing your fics. These posts will never be revealed so that there are never any hard feelings or fear of insulting another person.
5. The rules regarding the specifics within fics will be designated at the time of the challenge. That said, most of the common elements of the story will be left up to the author; however, there will be no incest or rape on this site. It is simply unsavory, and, truthfully, very difficult to write well.
6. You may enter more than one fic in each challenge, but you will only be given the point average of the two scores. Some people have more time to write than others, and allowing multiple entries for people who have more free time to write is simply unfair.

General rules regarding fic:

1.Any material that is of more than PG in nature must be put under the cut. This means anything more than kissing must be under the cut. Most foul language is in this category as well.
2. The subject line of the fic must be the title. If it is untitled, list that.
3. You fic must be able to stand alone. You can make it into a chaptered fic to post somewhere else, but it must be able to be read and understood in the context which it is presented.


Point Specifics:

1. At the end of every challenge, points are totaled. The author(s) with the highest point total will be given the choice of a personalized banner or icon as a prize. The author may submit a picture for the icon or may give a loose description of what is desired. I will do my best to fulfill requests, but everyone must take into consideration that I am a novice at banner and icon-making.

2. Two surprise challenges will be issued per month. They are termed surprise challenges because they will neither be announced ahead of time nor will they be up for an entire week. They will be up for a total of 48 hours, and they will adhere to the same point schedule as far as content, but the point values will be doubled. You will still only receive one point for voting. All other standard rules apply.

Point Schedule:

The point schedule is as follows:

1. Regular weekly challenges will be graded on a 20 point system. To be clear, there will be 20 possible points for each fic you submit. Points are totaled for all reviews and then averaged to complete your final score.

The guidelines are as follows:

--There will be a word limit designated within the challenge. Given that you stay within that limit, you will be awarded five points.

--Having a beta is still important. Given that grammar, spelling, usage and such are of an acceptable quality, you will receive five points. Also within this portion is adhering to the format of the community (how to post the title, etc.).

--Being creative is important. This is the only facet of the scoring process that is completely objective. Your readers will have the chance to give you up to five points for how creative they feel your fic is.

--You will have the opportunity to gain another five points for using all elements presented within the challenge. Certain key phrases, a ship, etc. will all be contenders here.

--As an additional incentive, one point is awarded to your final score for every fic you vote on in the proper manner (adhering to the guidelines for voting). Simply leaving a review for the fic is not voting. You will receive no points for this. In order to receive the bonus point, you much take the time to copy and paste the standard format (that will be posted on the site), and to use it in your comment.
